Something wicked at Silver Lake

Something wicked at Silver Lake

The young man staggered down the steps outside the Broken Dagger. He held on to the railing to gain his balance again. The world was spinning, but he didn’t care.
He wanted to go swimming. He stood up straight as he could and walked through the woods, holding on from tree to tree, singing in a loud voice to himself.

He stumbled upon a beautiful woman, with raven hair and dark eyes, sitting on a rock near the lake. He stopped and stared at her for a minute, and ran his hands through his
short blonde hair, and grinned. He stepped toward her.

“Evening, my lady. What is a beautiful woman like you doing in the woods at night?” He said, in his best attempt at being suave.

The woman looked up at him and smiled. She leaned back a bit and straightened her slender legs out in front of her, pointing her toes. “I was just lounging around, having a
few drinks. I’m awfully lonely,” She said in a child like voice. She grinned at him, batting her eyes flirtatiously. “Would you care to join me? I have my own bottle right here.”
She reached over and picked up a glass bottle with a dark liquid inside and swirled the liquid around.

He grinned again. This must be his lucky night. He’d been with a lot of women, but none as pretty as this one. They were mostly homely looking girls that helped around at
his fathers farm, or prostitutes, and none of those were very pretty. “I’d love to join you for a drink,” He said as he plopped down on the ground next to the rock she sat on.

He leaned back on one elbow and layed on his side, giving her a seductive look, or what he thought was a seductive look.

He reached out for the bottle and when she reached out to give it to him, he put his hand on hers. Her skin was so soft. He took the bottle and took a great swig of it. It burned
like fire in his mouth and it drained into his stomach, without a swallow. It burned in his throat and stomach and he let out a scream of agony. He dropped the bottle and writhed
in pain.

The woman got up and smoothed out her black dress and quickly picked up the bottle so it wouldn’t spill on the ground and be wasted. She sat next to him smiling and tilted her
head to the side, her hair falling over his face. She ran her hands through his hair as he screamed and writhed. “Silly man. You should not be so quick to drink what is given to you
by strange women at night. Or during the day, even. It won’t hurt for much longer. You’ll see.” She kissed his forehead and sang to him an eerie tune as she caressed his chest and
watched his pain decease.

The pain slowly became lesser, but his body was becoming numb. He could not move. Not even his head. He became a limp doll on the forest floor and his well being was in her hands.
But that was not what she had planned. She stood up and reached behind the rock she had sat on. She pulled out a jagged knife and a jar. She sat back down and smiled at him.

“Now. This won’t hurt a bit. I promise. Not until you can move again.” She grinned.

He could not speak. He made moaning and what would be pleading if he had use of his tongue. She reached in his mouth and grabbed his tongue and cut it off. The blood poured from
his mouth and she turned him over to his side so as not to drown him in his own blood. She then one by one, did the same to his eyes and put them all into her jar.

He lay there screaming in terror as his world had just become pitch black and numb.

“Thank you so much for your company sir. Until next time.“ The woman snickered and took her belongings and disappeared into the forest.
