A Report on the Fiend

The Ashfiend came disembodied in a person who arrived in Myrken Wood several months ago - drawn to a shared tragedy and resultant hatred in their lives. This man's hate called to the Ashfiend and drew his attention from some spirit-realm.
The man's hate grew and he began experiencing memories of the Ashfiend. These memories grew more intense and more frequent, until the man in question experienced a blackout and awoke to see the Ashfiend standing before him.
At this point the Ashfiend began a trek across the southern reaches of Myrken Wood, killing a few farmers on the way and animating them to serve him as undead. He came upon the abandoned Snowstill Priory and took it as a base of operations. Shortly after he kidnapped a bar girl named Teddi upon which he practiced a powerful spell.
Forces allied to attack the Ashfiend and rescue the girl, which ultimately succeeded despite heavy loss of constables and shepherd knights to the Ashfiend and his minions. The monster was believed to have been driven into hiding until, but a few days later, he unleashed his new magic upon the town of Foggy Bottom - driving the entire population insane with his own memories for a period of about three days. During this reign of madness, he unburied an ancient mine whereupon a servant of his had hidden two things: a sword he had once wielded as a mortal holy knight (named Deliverance) and a silver urn carrying the ashes of his murdered betrothed (named Elysia).
Armed with the sword, he fought against one Sin'Vraal, noted leader of the cult The Order of the Violet Dawn. Sin'Vraal was a Demon Lord and the one who murdered Elysia and turned the Ashfiend into an undead creature after killing the then-mortal-hero who came for vengeance upon the demon. In a surprise alliance of convenience, the Ashfiend fought Vraal twice and managed to kill him the second time - at the Violet Dawn orphanage in Myrkentown.
Since then, Teron Ashfiend has striven for nothing other than destruction for one apparent reason - to make the land safe from all who might harm his wife once she is returned from the land of the dead.
Teron was once known as Trevellyan Penroll, the mythic Knight of the Wilted Rose who is remembered, if at all, only in stories to children. He saw Vraal's armies burn his homeland, kill his betrothed, and then ultimately died at Vraal's hands over six thousand years ago. Upon Penroll's death Vraal cursed him, binding his hate-filled soul to endure as a servant. Teron has, obviously, broken the second half of that curse but this is a frightening thing indeed.
Just how strong is his hate that it can bend the primeval curse of a Demon Lord, who once saw the face of the One Above? Conventional attacks may disrupt, slow, or distract the creature but seem unable to destroy him. All that is known about the method needed to destroy him is that it somehow involves tears.
