The messenger boy was as non-descript as they came, a peasant lad who would run errands for a few shillings. And so, with shillings in one hand, and a box in the other, young legs would carry him swiftly towards ruined Lothbury.

"'e said t'were f'the Guv'nor." The lad would explain to those who likely guarded the gate before handing over the package and attendant note.

The note was a succint thing, carefully printed.

Next time, burn them first.

And inside the box, did they open it, they would find a weapon, a finely crafted crossbow. But odd, for this crossbow had neither string nor quarrel - in their place, it posessed a crystal. A crystal that would glow in different colors - red, blue, and so forth - when spun.

Perhaps they would recognize the weapon. Perhaps not. Either way, they would not know how to use it. Either way, the gift had been given.
