Quincy's letter

Mon Jun 28, 2004 7:28 am

It was a faery that had delivered it, halfway through a moon-soaked night. Through the wild, Myrken woods, she had been tumbling and fluttering, near out-of-breath, her heart beating furiously in her little chest as she found the doorstep of the haven. Here, feet lashed in sandals made of grass settled, and tired wings were draping themselves in rest. The tiny note, here, was placed -- and she did so with dread, half-attempting not to tear the Prince's note apart with her furious little hands. What angered her of it, though, only she knew.

But the drop was made. And in a sprinkle of dusts, she was off once more, a wisp of light through the forest glades.

The letter at Quincy's doorstep had been scrawled on a simple piece of parchment, and she might have found it with the coming sun. Its letters were flowing and regal, as if someone of great import had sent her the letter.

Dear Quincy,

I hope you get this soon. My friend Jistev said he'd write a letter as long as I told him what I wanted on it. He's very brave -- he's the head knight in Naria, and he's very nice. Maybe you two could get married?... And then my friend Aurora -- she's a faery... can you believe that? -- said she'd drop the letter off to you.

I was getting homesick. My flowers in Myrken were stomped on, and I thought it would be best to visit home and get away from Myrken. I'm sorry that I just disappeared, so I hope you don't worry, and please tell anyone that knows me that I'll be back soon ..in a fortnight, or so!

Ask Red about the dreams, too. And tell Miss Khali -- but please don't be angry. It was the only way.

I'll come back soon ... I miss my friends there. I needed to ask my mother some questions about the journey .. so we can be escpecially safe.

And maybe I'll bring back some of these pretty flowers from the gardens here in Naria to plant. Maybe. But I'll be back soon.

-- Phlynn Marion Johnford

PS - Tell Estela that I'll be back soon.
