Moonlight played over the water.... danced along the sleek lines of the ship.... Ahh she was a thing of beauty she flowed from bow to stern, curved in perfect unbroken lines. her masts rising from her deck like proud spines.. erect and unbending, her sails lashed tightly bound against the fluttering breezes and gusts of wind. Waves lapped at her hull like the shimmering layers of a silken gown rocking her gently... cradling her within its folds of the rivers current like the treasure she was.
Golden orbs lifted to the figurehead now flowed up the white painted folds of the carved gown... to the arms folded against a slender waist. “Good Evening Eiraelaeâ€

[I]Raging white maned horses, thundered against the quaking ship, tossed it about as if it were naught but a bit of rag, a piece of flotsam to be toyed with. Sails were torn their shredded remnants snapping in the breeze, waving like prayer flags whose whispers sought favors from gods no longer listening. Men fought to pull on the rudder, fought to turn the wheel to turn the ship so the next waves did not swap... did not break her back but they would not move. Slender figures gripped the railing supporting the figure of a heavily pregnant woman. None had any idea where they were.... all they knew was this was not their home. Towering wall of water rose those raging horses tossing their manes menacingly as it bored down upon the ship. CRACK!!! the sheer weight and force on an already battered vessel, tore the mainmast pole from its place. Rigging lines pulled tight as it plummeted towards the sea and caught helpless sailors in its grasp flung them into the seas greedy maw. Even above the sound of the raging storm one could hear the remaining two masts groaning in protest as they began to bend. A child’s toy , a favorite ball, it was tossed back and forth , pushed skyward only to be plunged into low lying troughs.“Land... “ The cry went up as sharp eyes spotted the jutting cliffs ahead of them... those ghostly shapes that promised both salvation and threatened danger in the same breath. The sound of the remaining masts giving way cut through the air right after this shout.. Rigging lines giving way with a resounding series of frightening twangs.
Another wave crashed into the ship drove it onto a hidden reef.. The grinding wrenching sound that arose sounding the ships death knell, even as it began to list at an ever more alarming angle with the water rushing into it. Moving upon this slanting deck was difficult enough and yet one Elven male leapt down from the wheel deck and raced towards the pregnant woman and her attendants. “We can’t stay here we have to go over boardâ€

[i]Morning found the sunlight a sickly pale imitation of itself trying to break through banks of unrelenting storm clouds... An eerie calmness had settled over the cove... a cove littered with the broken shattered remains of a ship, with the bodies of those it had failed to keep safe from the storms wicked temper. The eye of this beast had arrived. Gentle waves pushed at the broken mast fragment, guided the clinging woman to the shore, depositing her upon the soft clinging sand.

Alexander sat well enough alone in the galley, taking in his usual meal of his own design. His blue robes clean as ever as he consumed a fruit paste he made himself. Little did he know that a storm was about to come to port....
He sat calmly, bowl in one hand and spoon in the other. and a tankard at his side. He was glancing over a few pieces of parchment, a few maps. Self appointed navigator, and probably a pet to the captain herself. He wasn't much use as a sailor, but as a scribe, cartographer, and general paperwork he couldn't be beat.
So he sat oblivious to the coming storm at his own port... the captain would soon be upon this unsuspecting cartographer....

Indeed she was soon upon him, water still dripping from her hair, soaking into the shirt she had borrowed, ragged breeches again clothing her hips.
Through the door she strode, every line and angle of her being shouting its outrage. Golden gaze snapped as it fell upon him "How could you do it Alexander.... How could you take what I described to you and give that likeness to the Figurehead" Every word was clipped short as if she was even now trying to restrain herself... you see at this very moment she believed she wanted to strike him.

Would be his first response. "Take what you said? I did no such thing! I'll have you know I've had the drawing for that particular masthead for nigh on three years before we met! The nerve that you'd think I'd steal a design... OH!" He paused for a moment, he had thought she was accusing him of a theft... but not what she really came to him about. "Dear gods, I hadn't thought of that. Well is it going to be too much of a problem? Those things are a devil to commission... "
"My dear, I had no idea she looked like your mother..." he thought in the back of his mind. A lithe index finger lay upon his lips. "Indeed what a mystery..."

Oh she knew how hard it was to commission such a thing, she'd had to work very had to convince the buliders she was worthy of a liveship that she deserved such a precious vessel. Anger was swallowed pushed away "I'll learn to live with it. It was just the shock of realisation." Such words to offer and yetit was as close to an i'm sorry that he would get, and then she was turning and moving back towards the door.

He gave a curt bow as she turned to leave, "Apologies my lady Captain." He looked up. "What a funny old world this is," he thought to himself. "Good day, my dear," he said in a slight whisper, probably loud enough for her ears to hear him. "At least she didn't throttle me this time..." he thought again to himself.
