It was strange, she had been called into private audience with the Reaper and though such a thing had happened before this was different. He had been different, he had been afraid, and oh so angry. Not of the one she had been sent to kill. He had been afraid of her, he was sending her to die, to fail and she knew it, what she didn’t know was why. Lips pressed themselves into a thin line, brows drawing together in the middle as she frowned. What about me scares him... why is it he fears me.
It did not matter how many different ways Devi worded the question she could not ever find the answer, and that was the problem. Of course it was not the only problem, there were several others. One, she had felt for sometime the order of Hades had another name, its true name, that they had been perverted, wrenched from their path and purpose. Two, an urge had been growing in her to speak of this feeling, to overthrow the Reaper, to restore the order to its true purpose, though she did not know what that purpose was. And three, she was now being sent to kill someone who had once sheltered and protected her while she was injured, had helped her to heal. Fingers dragged through rain drenched tresses , the constant and steady sound of water droplets hitting the wooden floor causing her to grimace. The weather was as beastly and chaotic as her mood perhaps she should indulge in a private bath, it would be costly of course, but the heat of the water, its soothing comfort might just lift her mood. A smile curving her lips at the thought she moved to the door of her room and headed downstairs knowing that in just moments the innkeeper would be fawning over her from the instant he saw she was willing to pay well for what she desired.
