All about town the posters were hung and dropped in every which direction. The children scampered about the town chattering non-stop about all the treats and games that they would get to take part in the carnival. Tents had been erected at the town's edge and the travelling merchants and entertainers beckon the masses to the event with calls into the street and tease of the delights to come as bards wandered into the street to give the townspeople a taste of their talents.
Once inside the carnival there was no shortage of things to do, as the carnival area was filled with all kinds of different things to do. Children could laugh and play around the maypole, or take part in little games of chance and skill. Merchants lined the edges of the big area, selling all sorts of wares, and other areas were set up for drinking, dancing, eating and generally enjoying the spring and all it had to offer.
At the very fringes of the carnival were smaller tents, side shows established to demonstrate all sorts of mystical and physical displays, all of which were intended to amuse the eyes and baffle the brain. Among those acts were the performers from the circus. People gathered in lines that at times felt endless, stretching their necks to catch sight of a contortionist, a fire-breather or perhaps a larger than life magician who sought only to entertain the hoardes of children that came to gather at his feet.
OOC Note: I'm creating the carnival as a backdrop for #bd_myrkentown to give us a different environment from now through May 12th. It's there for you to play your characters, create your plots, etc as long as you are keeping it within the rules and context of the setting. Feel free to make use of the NPCs and structure of the carnival to have your fun! At the end of May 12th the Carnival will pick up and leave just the way it came.
