Cinnabar will find a most unusual announcement left at his door--well, in front of his door, hanging from a green, glowing string tied to a green spear stuck soundly in the door hinge, and written on a piece of paper maybe the size of a normal napkin one might clean one's hands on. This is no declaration of war, however; it is merely the only thing a passing greenwing had on hand in his trip from New Hibera.

The note itself, when unfolded, reveals a stately, textbook perfect script, though a little tight and spidery.

Governor Cinnabar Calomel, Judiciar, Myrken Wood

I, Orin Barrin, King's Physician, heir to New Hibera, bid you greetings from New Hibera under, I am afraid, the least splendid of times.

I shall keep this short, good Governor, which I suppose shall prove rather helpful. My brother, Richard Aengus, King of New Hibera, that fat-bellied pink scoundrel whom you know through his past, ill-fated affairs with your Councilor Treadwell, has in recent months taken to falling more and more ill as time has past. My professional diagnosis is senility, brought forth primarily from the aforementioned affairs, during which time Richard saw fit in his lunacy to see his head filled with memories corresponding to those of your man Treadwell.

In short, dear Governor, that head with two sets of recollections about every event in the last sixty-three years is going quite loony.

Until I can successfully heal His Majesty of his predicament, a fate I am seeking to expedite with all haste with the assistance of the mages who put him in this position, I have officially placed my bloated brother on quite copious amounts of bed rest.

I have also officially placed myself on the throne of New Hibera in his stead until further notice.

I also here officially inform you of a passage that has been dug under your town, coming up under that platform in the middle of your town square. It is approximately six inches wide, if I recall properly. It is also in direct violation of the Treaty of A.R. 145, signed by Richard. However, given the recent construction of this passage, I do dearly hope that you shall see it as a misguided showing of Richard's slowly growing senility, as demonstrated in its earliest stages several months ago. I shall send my men to fill it in by way of avalanche tonight. Have no fear of our greenwings' lights as they flutter about. This is not an invasion; rather, it is a correction of a poor fairy's delirium.

I bid you good evening, Governor. Do send my best wishes to your Council, particularly to Mr. Treadwell. I am quite certain that, once Richard is back to his wits in some short order, he shall wish to do the same.

Yours in trust and hopefulness,

Orin Barrin
