The letter would be received, and passed unopened from one set of hands to another, till it finds its way to the hands of Daphne-Kyle, well to the desk beside her at least. Set at the top of a pile, which rest amongst many piles. The Gypsy was never a book keeper after all, so it is to her old friend to make order out of chaos, not that that was anything new in their friendship. Yet this time Daphne-Kyle has other duties as well, the way station had been opened up to the survivors of Foggy Bottom, many lost their homes, so those who did not or longer needed medical attention where offered a bed, and what ever else they may need to get them through this tragic time. Daphne-Kyle has spent the last few days, which each one either in one on one conversation or in clusters, as they slow open up about the incident, soft words and understand great each one. Sometime the best medicine is just to listen, and listen she did. Till she slipped into the office, and found one of the Vertex standing before her.
The Vertex, a race of Lizardian men. Their origins the woman knows not much of, save for the little her Gypsy friend has told her. She knows that they are not of this land, one must cross the sea to find the jungles they dwell within. There are only two here, the honor guard of the R’il, it is the title of their leader, though the closest common translation would be something nearer to caretaker, cherished one.
He stands their this massive creature, a slight nod, taught to him by his R’il as a greeting for encounters such as this. They have no language, no written word, primitive in these aspects, yet they are vastly advanced in other. A talon like hand lifts and hands a letter to Daphne-Kyle, she nods in response to indicate thanks and understanding, then he is gone like a ghost…a thought. Even though she watched him depart, the silent effort unnerves her. Letter in hand she takes a seat and reads what she knows is her dear friends words.
Daphne-Kyle,
I got into it this time, as I am sure you already know, I have not the time or words to explain why, but know I believe what I am doing is for the overall good of Myrken. If not my own salvation. What you have heard I do not know, but I know what you think of rumors and gossip so I will not worry over your thoughts.
Snowstill did not go as hoped, those stubborn fools were dead set on shedding blood, and as I predicted they only shed their own. Though I was able to keep the Mapmaker from harm, and he in turn was able to locate the Barmaid. As for Teron, he is as always a troubling thought. I have learned to much now to go back on my decisions, there is something underneath the darkness, I can see it, his hate is a mask. We both know how hard those masks are to remove. But I must try…
Foggy Bottom was unfortunate, though I cannot think to long on them, for I have no more to give to the innocent. Hopefully what I have gathered from there will aid my search. If I have one pause in all of this it is in regards to Savoy, had I known…..no that is wrong, had I known I still would have asked him to try. I believe he understands that, find him for me Daphne-Kyle, you were a great comfort to me in my darkest hour, perhaps you will be able to help him in the same way….
I need you to gather everything I have at the waystation in regards to this matter, and from Mary the books she has on ancient ruins in this province, as well as any arcane mythology dealing with demon followings, and cults….
Use the gift from old Paxton, it should all fit, and S’ca will return it to me, I will not openly state where I am, but you have always been a smart woman. You know my mind, but I ask you to stay away. I am close, I can feel it. I will be in touch, and if needed leave any missive upon the Desk, with my mark, and S’ca will see it to me..
Be safe..
Khalika
The woman sigh at her friends words, as once agains she takes the world upon her should but she does what was asked, and soon the puzzle box gift from old Paxton was filled. Everything even the most recent letter, which she had looked over before also sealing in. Though the last one had her pause, as she did not know who wrote it, her own suspicions were raised. Could it be a trap?…The constable was to this point honourable in her eyes, so she would go to him, and they would talk of this amnesty….
